A Vision for Youth10551473_530018607099090_8619605086168261433_o
We believe that through a tri-focused youth ministry, we can help our teenagers mature in their relationship with God, grow in their discipleship and care for one another and the world, and provide a space wherein the Holy Spirit can help them wrestle with questions of faith and identity that so often surround young people in this age. Our hope is that through committed youth ministry, we can position our young people for a lifetime of love for God.

Study and Worship

Children and Youth Handbells (9:00 – 9:30 weekly during the school year): Children and youth rehearse and then lead handbell pieces in worship throughout the school year. Children second grade and older are invited to participate.

Sunday School (9:45-10:30 weekly): Our youth are currently studying the parables of Jesus. This study seeks to combine biblical and theological themes with the everyday lives of teenagers, as they seek to integrate their faith in their ordinary life situations.  Separate classes are offered for middle and high school students

Confirmation: This is a time of intentional study for middle school students, to examine their faith and prayerfully consider confirming the promises made by their parents at their baptism, that they wish to commit their life to honoring and serving Jesus Christ as Lord.

Acolytes: Middle school students may serve as acolytes on special Sundays. These young people mark the beginning of worship by ringing the church bell, they carry in the light of Christ into our presence, and they remind us that our journey of faith begins in baptism by pouring water into the baptismal font.

Liturgists: High School students are invited to assist the pastor in worship leadership, leading prayers and scriptures.

Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection (DOOR) is a faith-based network of six cities that provides opportunities for service, learning and leadership development within the urban context. We highlight the strengths of our cities, as well as the needs. We believe this is best accomplished through collaboration, mutuality and partnership.

10374907_502616073172677_5815976827072060022_nThrough DOOR’s Week Long Discover Program, your group will participate with local ministries under community leadership. While volunteering, listening and reflecting on the issues, joys and concerns of the ministries, your group will be challenged to “see the face of God in the city”. This program is designed for groups age 13 and up from all denominations.
