This position is part-time, typically requiring 10-15 hours/week in the fall, winter, and spring and 6-8 hours/week in the summer if filled by one person. It is available as of April 1, 2021.
In conjunction with the Pastor and with the guidance of the
Worship Committee, the Music Director is responsible for planning, directing,
and overseeing the music program of the church. This person will attend weekly
staff meetings and monthly committee meetings to plan music for services in accordance
with the Presbyterian (PCUSA) theology of worship. Job responsibilities include
directing the sanctuary choir and two handbell choirs (including rehearsal
preparation and performance); supervising children’s music education and
performance; providing appropriate service music for the Sunday morning worship
service; providing accompaniment for all worship music (including hymns, choir
anthems, and soloists); and providing music for special services, as requested.
Qualifications include experience in choral conducting,
ability to conduct instrumentalists, familiarity with the Presbyterian Church
(preferred), skills in organ and piano, an engaging personality with exceptional
interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to communicate
effectively.
