DIAPER DRIVE–To honor the homecoming of all 3 Meadows Babies the Church will doing a Diaper Drive on Sunday, August 27 and Sunday, September 3.  Please be sure to bring your diapers on Sunday and place them around the baptismal font as we remember God’s covenant of grace and celebrate this life.  All of the diapers received, will be donated to John and Madison.

 

 

CARSON NEWMAN WELCOME DAYS–Area Churches Welcome Center is on Tuesday, August 29. from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30p.m. This is a dedicated space for 2-3 greeters from FPC to meet with students and invite them to worship with us. Tables and chairs will be provided in the Grand Hall of the Maddox Student Activities Center, where we can post a church sign, distribute informational literature and directions to FPC, as well as offer refreshments such as cookies, candy, or fruit. There are a wide variety of ways we as a congregation can participate in these events: the broad time slots enable us to be involved in shifts if you cannot be there the full time, and if you cannot be there in person, you can bake something delicious or help to make an attractive sign for our table! Dave will be at both events, so please get in touch with him (dave.fpcjeffcity@gmail.com or 865-227-1006) if and how you’d like to be involved.

 

 

 

Meals for Meadows Family—Life in the Meadows house is very busy with the arrival of triplet boys! Let’s show them our love and support by providing meals, making that one less thing they have to do! If you would like to prepare a meal, please go to www.takethemameal.com to sign up (go to the Find box and type in Meadows for the recipients name and the password is 3333). Meals should be left in the church kitchen by 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Dates, meal ideas, likes and dislikes can all be found on the website. Please call or text Roxanne Moser at 865-696-4004 if you have any questions or need help signing up.  We need volunteers for September.  Please take a few minutes to check out the website and see if you are available!

 

 

 

Mission Yard Sale Preparation Begins—The Annex, located across from First Methodist parking lot, will be open to receive your donations on the following schedule:

August
Wednesdays – 6:30-8:00 pm (except for Family Night Wednesday)
Sundays- 1:00- 3:00 pm

If you have a large load and need another time slot, please contact Linda Noonkesser at 865-216-0715 or Del Deaton at 865-250-5557.

Furniture and other big items can be donated beginning mid-August when the storage pod is set in place near the west lawn.  Remember that we cannot sell baby furniture, oversized sofas or older bulky TVs.  Call with any questions.  There is a need in the church family for a washer and/or dryer.  Also appliances in working order are good sellers.

Please sort clothing by Men, Women, Kids into labeled white plastic bags, loosely tied. Shoes should be tied or banded together if possible.  Nicer clothing can be donated on hangers.

Clean, useful housewares, linens, toys, jewelry and finer things are needed.

Book donations are welcome, but please no textbooks or encyclopedias.
